Geography and terroir
Between Arles and Nice, one extends from the oldest vineyards of France.
Protected from the mistral by the Alps, it benefits fully from the Mediterranean, hot climate and dryness in summer, on a surface of 25.000 hectares.
The Rosé wines with their typical bottle are particularly famous, but Provence also produces some red wines and famous white wines.

One indexes regional AOC and communal AOC:
- Cotes de Provence and Baux-de-Provence
- Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence et Coteaux de Varois (the department of Var)
- Bandol and Bellet
- Cassis and Pallet
You can find red, white, and Rosé wines with these various names. Except for Baux-de-Provence, which only exists in red and Rosé.
It should be noted that the Rosé wines account for almost 75% of the production in Provence.
Red wines
Bandol: powerful wine, of a supported color with a carmine, garnet dominant. Ideal with a duck with olives.
White wines
Cassis: fresh wine, with a yellow, straw, amber color. It will accompany the local specialties, such as the bouillabaisse.
Rosé wines
Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence: round wine, of an average color with a currant dominant. To be served preferably fresh (12°C), with a salad niçoise.
